Political hardsell shortage
Is the Doha Development Round (DDR) dead, as the anti-globalisation activists claim? Not yet, said trade ministers of the 153 member-countries of the Word Trade Organisation at the seventh Ministerial Conference at Geneva last week. They ended the Conference with a general agreement to recommence the stalled negotiations of the DDR and take it to conclusion by the end of next year. Even such broad agreement was in sharp contrast to the acrimony and bitterness that characterised the earlier failed trade talks at Cancun and Hong Kong.

Sonata wins Dredging Corporation contract

Sonata Information Technology (Sonata), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Sonata Software, has been awarded a project by public sector firm Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) to provide enterprise solution implementation services for its corporate office in Visakhapatnam and dredging project sites, according ot a company release on Monday. The solution will be based on Dynamics AX 2009, an ERP platform from Microsoft. In the first phase of the engagement, Sonata will implement solutions for DCIL’s financial and material management functions. Subsequently, the scope will be expanded to include other business functions as well.
